pumpkins galore!!

Today we headed west into the Hill Country to the town of Marble Falls to go to a pumpkin patch. The Hill Country is beautiful, its like a miniature version of the Blue Ridge Mountains. And its only 30 minutes away! It was tons of fun and believe it or not, the jacket and fall-ish clothing was not staged. It was only in the 50's today and it felt great!
It was a good night to make chili and Dan has the gas fireplace going as we speak. No, its not that cold nor is our blood that thin, but you have to take what you can get sometimes. Just 2 days ago it was in the 90's!

the many faces of Grace

It must bother Grace for Baxter to be naked. She picks up his collar, brings it to him and tries to put it on him or hands it to him expecting him to put it on. She also likes Baxter's bed (yummy...dog hair....) He humors her while she's there and the moment Grace moves on to something else, Baxter reclaims his bed with a groan of ownership.

a cheerleader in THIS house???

The first Saturday of college football, Notre Dame was playing Nevada and Dan asked if we had anything Notre Dame to dress Grace in for good luck. I pulled out her cheerleader's outfit (thanks Maryellen!) and he asked if we had anything else (not a cheerleader's outfit!!). Nope. Next thing you know, she comes running out and someone was asking to have his picture taken with the little cheerleader. Too cute to resist!

And I'm sure you'll see much more of Grace's new best friends, Snoopy and Woodstock. It was her first day of daycare and we decided last minute that we should send her with a stuffed animal along with her blanket for naptime so Dan grabbed Snoopy. They are inseparable! According to her teacher, Snoopy even has his own seat at the table for lunchtime next to Grace. It's like her security blanket, a close second to sucking her fingers. Grandma Pat-Pat gave Dan and I Snoopy & Woodstock very early in our marriage and Baxter tried to claim it as his, especially Woodstock. Who knew it would be Grace's best friend.

Maybe the flowers of the chives plant didn't tast too good...

Football season is officially here! Go Colts!!

Little Glamour Girl putting on her jewelry along with her Colts jersey

It looked pretty ominous last weekend and we finally had some rain deliver when it was forecasted! I was telling Grace about it and realized that it has been a rarity in her life. I think we've had rain worth mentioning only 5 or 6 times since she was born!

the big 01!!

Proud parents. Grace did not disappoint in her cake smashing performance. She was even warming up the crowd as the cake was getting cut. Such a ham!! We had all of our family in town and a couple of friends from San Antonio that drove up to help celebrate. It was a house-full but we wouldn't have wanted it any other way (even though we had just arrived to Round Rock oh... 17 days prior).

hmmmm....

what's the gooey stuff??

alright, enough being dainty

that's more like it- girl after my own heart

so that was chocolate?!
for me?? big times with cousin Tatum!
Tatum is going to make a great big sister. She was always looking out for Grace and trying to teach her how to play and share

wouldn't be right if there wasn't a birthday suit shot!!

We made it!!

Thank goodness for movers (and my mom) is all I have to say. This move went pretty smooth. It amazes me that 3 guys can come in and have your home packed up in 3 1/2 hours. What was I thinking when I packed us up while pregnant last year?! It took alot longer to actually get out of the house the next day, those last minute things and tidying it up for continued showings... We are settling in up here in Round Rock pretty well. Love this house and the area. It is a totally different feel here than in San Antonio, much more to our liking. And there is an Ikea right at our exit!!
Grace hasn't seemed to miss a beat. She's happy as long as she is motoring around and flinging toys amid all of the boxes. She now has steps to learn to climb on the front porch. Baxter is happy that he was invited along for one more move and has a better yard for people-watching. There are all kinds of walking trails in the neighborhood and just the neighborhood alone is huge- all kinds of stroller rides and walks for Baxter.
Dan has started at Southwestern this week already and I'll be starting Monday at Children's Cariology Associates in Austin.
Grace likes to see the world upside down lately... or maybe its yoga, downward facing dog??

today is a good day!

The big 11 month mark! Grace started walking 2 1/2 weeks ago and now that is ALL she does. Forget playing with toys except to fling them all out of her toy box, then all she does is cruise around the house checking things out, opening and closing doors and cabinets. Grace is feeling very generous these days, offering up her sippy cup of formula (yummy) for anyone near and sharing Cheerios with Dan and Baxter.
I am feeling pretty fine as I worked my last 3 days in a row at Methodist and finished yesterday. Huge sigh of relief- that was never my favorite job, that's for sure! We pack up this coming Monday and are on our way up to Austin on Tuesday. Dan will be up in College Station coaching his team's final meet, their long course champioship, this weekend and he'll officially be done as well. We are ready to move on from San Antonio and are excited to see what potential we'll find up in Austin for both of our careers as well as for our family/social life. We'll both have more normal hours and weekends off except for meets during the competitive season, and I won't have to work holidays anymore so that should be really nice.
Wish us luck with the move and still for the sale of this house and we'll update you when we make it there!!

and she's off!!

How did I get in here?

Oh ya, I was trying to get my ball Ok, not funny any more!!
Can't catch me now!!

Officially yesterday, Grace decided these little 3-step ventures between the furniture were for the birds and took off walking in no particular direction. She still gets a little top-heavy or her feet just won't go as fast as she's used to when she's crawling but she's basically figured it out.

I read that once they start walking they are considered a toddler. After watching her 'toddle' along I now understand where the word comes from :)
