baby's growing

I had my first 'real' doctor's appointment today, although the last one seemed real enough to me with the first ultrasound done. I guess I did actually spend more time with the doctor this visit, was checked more, but I was too happy to notice last time- I saw and heard the baby's heartbeat, that's all that mattered.
Here's another ultrasound picture, although not as clear because it was abdominal (external). Things are coming along just as expected. The baby measured for 11 weeks and 5 days today and was giving a thumbs up from inside (almost literally- at least it looked like it!) I'm so excited !! I'm almost out of the clear and maybe those hints of nausea and fatigue will miraculously go away as they promise for the 2nd trimester! Then my belly will start sticking out and it'll seem even MORE real to me. Dan thinks it already it pouching out there some. Soon enough it will!

the hairy child

Baxter wanted to make his presence known and to make sure he's not forgotten in all of the other excitement :) He'll make a good big brother.

good news!

We are happy to announce that there will be a new addition to the Carrington family coming out to see the world around September 5th, 2008. As of February 8th, the baby is at 10 weeks. Last week, we had our first appointment at the OB-GYN. It was pretty amazing when they did the ultrasound.... the tiny thing was already kicking around inside and had a really fast heartbeat (180's) and we could see tiny toes! The baby measures 2.24 cm. The head is at the bottom left and makes up almost half of the total body for now. Dan was a little uncomfortable being in a place for 'only women'. I had to reassure him that there are male doctors in the practice and that its NORMAL for the dad to go along with the expecting mom.
